Meet The Team
Holistic Approach
Having grown up in a holistic-minded household, I know the value of integrative medicine. I saw how alternative approaches to medicine benefitted my animals, so I knew as soon as I chose to become a veterinarian that I wanted a practice where I could incorporate those tools. Here at Haven Veterinary Services, I integrate both Western approaches and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) into every case.

How it all began
My journey to veterinary medicine began in undergraduate when I had my personal horse, Bella, shipped from Colorado to Kentucky. I was so excited to have her with me during my junior year of college. We were training dressage and had made major leaps during the summer. She was gorgeous: well-muscled and perfectly conditioned. Imagine my shock when she got off the transport van limping, dehydrated, depressed, with superficial injuries all over her body. She had gone down in the trailer, maybe multiple times. My beautiful OTTB was now in a sorry state. Thus began 4 months of stall rest, daily bandage changes, and rehab care. Through this I found that I loved each aspect of nursing her back to health. My love for veterinary medicine was further cemented after my summer internship at KESMARC LLC in Lexington, KY, a premier equine rehabilitation center.

From there I went on to gain experience in general equine medicine and small animal sports medicine and rehabilitation prior to vet school. After obtaining my Master's degree in Animal Anatomy, I went on to complete my DVM at Colorado State University. There you could find me actively involved in the Christian Veterinary Mission and Sports Medicine/Rehabilitation clubs. I furthermore went on to complete a year-long ambulatory internship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital, focusing on equine dentistry, reproduction, and foal medicine.

Berry and I married in vet school. I'll never forget when he told the Dean that he needed his associate's degree in veterinary medicine after all he had helped me study. He truly has learned so much and I trust him as much as I would any technician. I feel incredibly fortunate that the love of my life chose to embrace the veterinary life with me.
